Happy New Year!

2017 is quickly approaching. I mean it is tomorrow. 2016 was a really good year for me and I definitely want to let you know why. I think it is safe for me to say that I finally found balance in my life when it comes to healthy eating. I used to be one of those people (yeah I said those) who would start each year with the mindset that I would lose a certain amount of weight in certain amount of time only to fall short and become discouraged after a few months.

I realized that "eating healthy" is not something that should only last a few months. It should be a lifestyle. This year I dedicated myself to eating better, which means that I tried my best to limit my consumption of processed foods, and fast foods. Most of the time I only eat real food now. By doing so, I lost over 30 pounds and I feel better than ever.

The only thing that I had to do was change my mindset. I don't deprive myself of the foods that I love just because they may not be as "healthy" as I think they should. I love cookies so sometimes I eat cookies. I have found balance which is very important because depriving yourself of the foods that you love leads to binge eating and it can become an endless cycle.

I urge everyone to develop a healthy relationship with food. Being healthy is just as much mental as it is physical. Always keep in mind that everyone's body is different though. I will certainly share more tips with you guys along the way. I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year though!
